Sam Fender has donated the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the trust for venues, which operates to protect the United Kingdom's small concert spaces.

The star was given the cheque on 16 October as his new release his work was declared the best record of the past year.

He has chosen to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function grassroots venues had in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it weren't for all the shows I played around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said the artist. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have ceased operations – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, major artists like Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to support the industry, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also took part, raising more than £100,000 on his recent tour to assist numerous small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds assisted locations that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from flooding, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted funding support in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The concept that funds from shows in large arenas backs the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just common sense," Fender has commented.

Fender is not the first artist to donate his honor funds to charitable organizations.

When Pulp received the award in the mid-90s for their release their work, frontman the singer announced that the group would give their winnings to the charity War Child.

In 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her prize among a few charities, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I contributed a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," the artist told the media.

In recent years, the band donated their winnings to the local youth club that supported their act, alongside other independent music bodies.

Also winners that year the group donated their winnings to a MS organization after a close contact was found to have the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," said singer the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the bonus, because we had the cake. So our victory touched somebody else's life."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had saved a couple of small stages in the South East, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in that area and The Croft in the city were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by the arts council and supporters who purchase "stakes" in the properties.
